Destination Earth

Clay left for Florida this morning after breakfast.  He drives with purpose and conviction.  May he find everything he is longing for there.  May his trip be safe and beautiful, may he be watched over by kind spirits and benevolent entities.  I don’t know how the Epic Adventure Love Story of Clay & Carmela turns out, you know about as much as I do.  I suspect a surprise ending.  We’ll see.

It is time to wave goodbye to this blog place.  You’ve been wonderful company.  Hug yourself from me for that.  You might not think it, but you make life worth living.  You do.

I miss Clay.  He has been my constant companion for 12 years and 11 months.  Because of being with him, I feel healed and whole.  Thanks to him, I understand true, altruistic love.

Tomorrow I step into the great and wild Unknown, and it’s okay.  My beloved sister~friend, E, will be holding my hand.  I am beyond grateful for her presence, reassurance and friendship.

That’s it.  I’ve returned the rental keys to the Edith & Gomez house and find myself feeling fit and ready to begin a happy new chapter.

I shot this photo with a piece of broken cemetary glass over the camera lens, last spring.  I’d salvaged this rosebush from the rubbish bin at my last job and ever since I’ve stuck it in the ground all it’s done is repay the kindness with exquisite, joyful beauty.  May this lovely spirit always be cared for.

I think living life is very much like gardening and farming.  We do our best or we practice neglect.  We get lucky or fall beneath powers beyond our control.  We lose entire fields or maybe there’s a bumper crop.  Hail, snow, drought, ideal temperatures~~~we get touched by it all.

What else is there to do but keep on keeping on?

While I’ve been away from blogging, I’ve been putting long hours in packing and cleaning, preparing for moving to my new place in Placitas.  Tonight I finally finished scrubbing, I’m done.  I celebrated with a long, deep, hot soak in the tub.

BLISS.

I am pecking away at editing photos from this year.  I won’t finish by 2011, but that’s okay. 

These days I like the idea of forgiving everything and everyone at night before I fall asleep.  Mostly, I remember to practice nightly forgiveness.  I’m really pleased with the results.

I’m terrible with saints and religious figures.  This lovely figure resides in Old Town, in the church courtyard there.  I shot this last spring.  I think this must be Mary.

I think my computer has finally bit the dust.  Or else it’s gone AWOL, one of the two.  That means I can’t access my photos and that, for the time being, I’ll be dipping into the well of my personal facebook supply.

This photo was taken last Thursday, driving down the hill from Placitas.  It was all gorgeous and snowy near the top end of the road and suddenly the snow was gone about halfway down.  My Placitas connection tells me it ended up snowing 8 inches.

It truly was a winter wonderland.

I don’t know what I’ll do or not do with my computer.  I think this is one of those deals where someone knowledgable takes over for me and I pay them to fix it since I really don’t know the least thing about this contraptions.

At any rate, Life is tossing me the most fabulous curve~snowballs and I’m enjoying every moment.

I’m working on catching up on photo editing, going through files shot earlier this year.  The yellow flowers and the geraniums were taken in Santa Fe, me and Clay’s first trip up on the train and his first visit to that fair city.  The yucca photos were taken on the walk to the train platform. 

Yucca blooms always catch my breath.  They exude such beautiful magic.

Is there any more perfect a teacher than a flower?

I rode the train to Santa Fe today, my last trip up for now and, hopefully, not forever.  A wonderful friend was waiting at the Sant aFe depot for me.  I leapt from the train car and bear~hugged her underneath the bluest sky. 

We ate lunch and visited one of her friends at work and then we walked to the Aztec Cafe for coffee and hot chocolate:

I gave her the birthday present I made in June and happy conversation and laughter gobbled up the rest of our visit. 

The whole day was a joyful breath.

Me & CLay rode the RailRunner train up to Santa Fe today, a bon voyage journey that included LOTS of walking, coffee with cream and sugar, the freshest mountain air, dogs, and an incredible look~out view of the town below.

In the bottom photo, the Sandias, the mountains that rise just to the east of Albuquerque, are visible.  They are those furthest away and they look like a great fin on the back of a whale.

At least, that’s how they look to me.

It was a beautiful day.  Alas, I’m too tired to write more about it right now.

Things around the old homestead these past couple of days have gotten a big morose, the air stale, the flow pitiful.

So this morning I took Clay out to Garcia’s for brekkie and then I bought us new hats in Old Town, and scrambled that dark nonsense, sent it pedaling off for good.

I finally chose a Sydney Bucket hat.  It’s sure to give good sunlight protection in Florida.  The name fits the style, it feels a bit buckety, but lightweight with a sweet weave for the Gulf breezes to slip through.
